III. For this syllabus upload, the Office of Academic Affairs would like to remind instructors of the following matters:

(I) Grading methods must be confirmed to match actual teaching practices.
Recently, there have been frequent grade appeals filed by students. The primary point of contention often stems from inconsistencies between the grading criteria outlined in the course syllabus (e.g., deduction policies for absences, percentage weightings of various assessments) and the actual grading practices, which lead to disputes. Instructors are kindly requested to ensure that the syllabus is accurately completed and strictly aligns with actual teaching execution. Grades should be awarded fairly based on students' actual academic performance, thereby maintaining teaching quality and safeguarding students' rights.

(II) Flexible teaching methods or self-directed learning sessions for Weeks 17 and 18 must be properly arranged.
1. Since the implementation of the "16+2" academic week system, instructors have been granted flexibility in arranging course activities. However, in practice, the flexible learning plans for Weeks 17 and 18 remain unclear in certain courses, or appropriate learning guidelines are not provided to students. As a result, the educational effectiveness of the "+2" weeks is difficult to manifest, raising student concerns regarding actual instructional hours and their right to education. 2. To align with the core philosophy of the "16+2" flexible teaching system and to maintain teaching quality, according to the resolution of the Administrative Meeting on May 27, 2026, starting from the 2026 academic year, instructors are respectfully requested to properly arrange specific teaching activities for these two weeks of flexible instruction or self-directed learning (e.g., capstone projects, online asynchronous/synchronous courses, internships, practical training, corporate or exhibition visits, performance evaluations/reviews, etc.). Furthermore, instructors must proactively explain the learning regulations and assessment methods to students to ensure the completeness of 18 instructional hours per credit. 3. Additionally, questions regarding learning activities during flexible teaching weeks will be added to the Teaching Evaluation Questionnaire to understand students' learning status and feedback.

(III) Distance digital courses should provide subtitles or establish supporting measures.
In accordance with the Ministry of Education's letter Ref. No. 1142302754 dated November 28, 2025: To safeguard the right to education for students with hearing impairments, instructors of distance digital courses (including synchronous and asynchronous formats) must provide complete subtitle content or establish reasonable resource support measures to ensure that hearing-impaired students receive equal educational rights.

5. For full-time faculty, uploading the course syllabus on time is a reference criterion for promotion and evaluation (must be uploaded before the end of Phase III Course Selection at the latest) and a prerequisite for the Outstanding Teaching Award (must be uploaded before Phase I Course Selection begins).
